After I installed the new security update, my MacBook Pro hung at startup twice. I rebooted in single user mode (cmd-S) and did an fsck, which found no damage, and I was able to finish booting. However, it now thinks Bluetooth isn’t available.

My MacBook pro rebooted twice. No further problems seen. Nothing on Apple's website other than a comment that *PowerPC* Macs will reboot twice in the release notes for a couple of software updates (eg 10.4.7).
Did you run any programs *while* the update was being installed? Apparently there's STILL a race condition in prebinding and files (both apps and frameworks) can be corrupted if you run software while prebinding.
