A Perfect Rose
This rose opened in my friend’s garden.
After the fight
Cody & Midnight had a very noisy fight and were chasing each other around the house for several minutes. A little while later, I caught both of them resting on the dining table, looking as if nothing happened.
Bill Moyers: Theocrats and ideologues in charge of US government.
Via MetaFilter: Bill Moyers: Theocrats and ideologues in charge of US government: For the first time in our history, ideology and theology hold a monopoly of power in Washington. Theology asserts propositions that cannot be proven true; ideologues hold stoutly to a worldview despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as reality. When ideology and theology couple, their offspring are not always bad, but they are always blind. And there is the danger: voters and politicians alike, oblivious to the facts.
Also seen in Life and Deatherage, this Harris Poll showing that most Americans truly are oblivious to the facts:
- 64 percent believe that Saddam Hussein had strong links to Al Qaeda (up slightly from 62% in November).
- 47 percent believe that Saddam Hussein helped plan and support the hijackers who attacked the U.S. on September 11, 2001 (up six percentage points from November).
- 44 percent actually believe that several of the hijackers who attacked the U.S. on September 11 were Iraqis (up significantly from 37% in November).
- 36 percent believe that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction when the U.S. invaded (down slightly from 38% in November).
Polka Dot Plant
This is the first time I’ve seen this bloom.
Vancouver Day 3
For the first time since I’ve been here, it hasn’t rained. When I left work this afternoon it started raining again. I walked around Robson street for a while. I found a huge bookstore and a great used CD store, where I bought a CD. Later I went to Starbucks & 7-11.
Here are two pictures of the Vancouver skyline I took from my office window with my cellphone.

Boat Parade
I went to the boat parade tonight. One of my friends manages a building on the intracoastal, so we were able to get a great close-up view of the parade.
