I just listened to Salif

I just listened to Salif Keita’s new CD, “Moffou”, which arrived a few days ago while I was at MacHack (thanks Rick).

This is a great CD, one of his best in a long time. He moved away from his overuse of horns & synthesizers to a more natural sound with lots of guitars, koras, n’gonis, and acoustic percussion. That seems to be a trend in recent African releases; Baaba Maal did the same thing in his latest album, “Missing You”.

I wonder what Youssou N’dour will do in his next album, which is supposed to be out this summer.
