WorldBeatPlanet Podcast

I’ve just added a podcast to WorldBeatPlanet. Drupal already has all of the necessary features for podcasting – it automatically includes the first file attachment in the RSS feed.

To create a separate podcast section, I defined a new taxonomy that I could apply to stories as a tag, so to make an RSS feed only containing podcast tagged items, I can use a path like taxonomy/term/54, although I added a few path aliases to hide some of those ugly URLs.

CD Sales

I had 100 copies of Jimi’s CD made today from The DubHouse. They have a very nice self-service setup and it cost me $1.98 per CD. Unfortunately their MP3 uploader currently runs only under Windows, so I had to use a PC to upload the audio files. Their staff is very helpful and they’re very pleasant to work with. I’ve been told that they’re working on a new improved cross-platform Java-based uploader so I’ll be able to upload from a Mac in the future.

I’ve set up a store at WorldBeatPlanet, which I’ll be using to distribute import CDs. I’m talking to Jimi about possibly selling albums by the other artists he works with at Studio Dogo.

Stand Up

My copy of Dave Matthews Band’s new album, “Stand Up” arrived today. Even though the label said it’s copy protected, I was able to import it into iTunes with no problems. Except for a few songs, I don’t care for this album too much. This album sounds very different from their usual style, although “Hello Again” reminds me a bit of “Two Step”.

Yaye Digalma

Yaye Digalma album cover artwork

Here’s the cover art for Jimi’s album, which I made from a photo he sent me. CD Baby sold out the first 5 CDs, so I just made up more and sent them. After this I shouldn’t have to make any more CDs since I found someone who can mass produce them with the artwork.

"American Baby" in iTunes

The new single by Dave Matthews Band, “American Baby” is now available for sale in iTunes Music Store. Dave previously refused to allow them to carry his music.

American Baby

I just heard “American Baby”, Dave Matthews Band‘s new single. So far I don’t care for it. It just doesn’t sound like a DMB song. Maybe after a few listens, I’ll warm up to it.
