14361 ª February 1 4:55 AM. Bootylicious vs. Smells like teen spirit (MP3-link). Although it might be a little of the mainstream META-postings, I chose to post this piece of Soulwax music (MP3) because I really want to hear your reactions. The energy attained in this synergetic combination exceeds even math rock. [MetaFilter]

It would be nice if

It would be nice if PHPNuke supported Blogger API or some other method of remote posting, since their story editor really sucks. If and when I get a chance, I may start hacking at it.

Is it possible to route only one particular channel from Radio via Blogger API? It would be really cool if I could add a MacMegasite channel and have anything going to that channel automatically posted at MacMegasite.

CodeWarrior keeps freezing on me

CodeWarrior keeps freezing on me so often, that I finally added the following alias to my .cshrc:

alias killmw 'kill `ps ax | grep Metrowerks | head -1 | awk '"'"'{print $1; }'"'"'`'

I'm starting to get used

I’m starting to get used to debugging from the terminal window with GDB. Unless I’m missing something, there doesn’t seem to be a way to pass a command line to the executable from CodeWarrior’s debugger, and I can’t use ccommand() in a Mach-O binary. I need to pass my application a single argument telling it what kind of connection to establish, which as far as I can tell I can only do if I run it from the terminal.

Pupils and Porn and Games,

Pupils and Porn and Games, Oh My. A Virginia school district is tightening security on over 11,000 iBooks after students downloaded porn and traded music and movie files. By Katie Dean. [Wired News]

Computers sold to schools should come with Spector and CompuTrace installed to monitor activity & track the computer if it’s missing or stolen. (BTW, I helped out with Spector & I’m working on the Mac version of CompuTrace)

The state of OS X

The state of OS X Web browsers is my take on the strengths and weaknesses of the major browser choices as January draws to a close… [Mac Net Journal]

I still use IE most of the time, but I’m really starting to like Mozilla. Interestingly, although Netscape 6 feels really sluggish, Mozilla feels fast & responsive. Both render pages faster than almost any other browser, though.

On a digital privacy crusade.

On a digital privacy crusade. Internet security expert David Holtzman warns of the consequences of a digital society that’s polarized into two camps: “vanilla politicians” and security-obsessed “curmudgeons.” [CNET News.com]

Scott McNealy said, “Privacy is dead. Get over it.” He’s right–in the sense that privacy is complete control over your information. If you think of young college kids, the people who do everything online all the time, everything they’re doing leaves a digital footprint, and they won’t be able to sweep it away. They may be looking at their thesis papers 30 years from now. That’s pretty scary.
