You need the newest version

You need the newest version of Internet Explorer or Netscape to “browse” the Web in style. The new Internet “browsers” are faster, safer, and include extras that bring the Web to life. Best of all, they’re free, so get your new software in just 3 easy steps!

The message I see when I attempt to load www.warner.com via OmniWeb. If I turn on OmniWeb’s ‘pretend to be IE 5.1 on OS X’ compatibility feature, the site renders just fine.

Ironically, the site is broken if I try to visit via IE on OS X.

*sigh* [bbum’s rants, code & references]

BellSouth.net does the same thing.

15749 ª March 22 3:43 PM. Microsoft Windows + NSA = loopholes in security: “A careless mistake by Microsoft programmers has revealed that special access codes prepared by the US National Security Agency have been secretly built into [almost all versions of] Windows.” an interesting article that really shouldnt be surprising, and all the more reason to buy a mac. It sounds like time to

It sounds like time to make a stand. Wired: “The Consumer Broadband and Digital Television Promotion Act prohibits the sale or distribution of nearly any kind of electronic device — unless that device includes copy-protection standards to be set by the federal government” California Senator Diane Feinstein is one of the six co-sponsors of the bill, five Democrats and one Republican.  [Scripting News]

I am pissed off to read this story, to see the disregard that these political leaders have for the rights of individuals to do what they want with their digital assets – products that I have purchased and that I should be able to use in any manner I see fit.

I just added a new Channel to the Mac Net Journal site: Digital rights… [Mac Net Journal]

Still no DSL service. I

Still no DSL service. I called BellSouth today and the work was completed yesterday, but I still have no sync. They gave me a trouble ticket and they’re testing for sync at the central office. If it checks out OK there, they’ll have to send someone over here tomorrow.

My new DSL modem arrived

My new DSL modem arrived yesterday, but I still have no DSL service. When I called BellSouth yesterday, they told me my line wasn’t scheduled to be provisioned for DSL until the 21st. After waiting on hold for a while, they finally told me they could do it today. When I saw the sync light still flashing after 6PM, I called BellSouth again and they say there may be some problems with my line. If it isn’t working by tonight, I should call tomorrow. They also said my alarm system might be interfering with it.

It’s now 10:23PM and still no DSL signal.
