I finally caught up with

I finally caught up with all of this week’s new account requests at mymacmail.com, and I’ve temporarily disabled new account signup. I now have 142 mailboxes, and while BounceWeb allows “unlimited” mail accounts on a reseller account, I don’t know at what point they’ll decide I’ve gone over the line and created too many.

I also won’t have a chance to deal with account signups for the next two weeks since the other programmer I’ve worked with for almost a year and who I’ve never met in person until now, is coming to visit next week, and the following week I’ll be out of town for a long weekend.

Although it doesn’t require any effort on my part to provide POP3 & IMAP accounts, since I already have those services running on my BounceWeb reseller account, plus they even provide IMP for webmail. The only programming I had to do for mymacmail.com was the signup form, which simply emails me the information that I have to enter into the Plesk control panel. I didn’t bother trying to figure out how to automate account creation (which seems to require administrative access to the Plesk software), which is OK if I only get a few requests, but I didn’t count on having to spend a lot of time manually creating accounts. Thankfully, once the account is created, it doesn’t require any further maintenance.

After I’m over this crush in a few weeks, I plan to re-enable account signup but only allow a limited number of POP/IMAP accounts. After that, I’ll only allow forwarding accounts, which put less load on the server and don’t use any storage.

MU Menu is becoming one

MU Menu is becoming one of my favorite utilities. I can now find the latest software updates any time by just looking at the menu bar without having to visit a website.

I’m now starting to visit MacUpdate regularly, since its free service provide most of what you have to pay for at VersionTracker, plus it’s Mac only.

Macintosh criticized on MSN. In this article on MSN, Kim Kommando dismisses the Mac, although she claims to be fair. “And just to set the record straight, I was not influenced one bit by the fact this column runs on a Microsoft-owned site. In fact, I started my testing months before I began contributing weekly columns to Microsoft bCentral.”, she says. [MacMegasite]

I just noticed a really cool feature in DragThing 4.5. It now identifies classic applications by a little “9” badge on the icon. I also really love the new drawer feature. It looks like my favorite application launcher just got even better.

It turns out I need

It turns out I need a new air conditioner. The old one, which died completely, was still the original unit installed when these homes were built in 1973. It’s going to cost about as much as the new G4 I had hoped to get in a few months, but it should cut my electric bills in half.

Yes I am please with the wait in the sentencing,Ê we are tryng to get some

other legal issues in the case worked out.

This is was very complex case even before the trial began. but it seems that

no one is interested in knowing the real truth.Ê I may have already said

that.Ê Anyway about them signing their rghts away…last week a man from CA

called to tell me of his interest in the case.Ê He does documentries about

children and help get families back together.Ê This is his first of this

nature but it intriged him so much that he called.Ê After talking to me, he

asked if I would give him an interview if he came to Pensacola.Ê He was here

today and told me that until he talked to me he wasn”t sure if wanted to do

this, but after hearing what I had to say about some of the legal issues, he

just had to come.Ê He will be back in Oct. to finish it up.Ê I don’t usually

give interviews, but I felt that I should do this one.Ê ( I also did a

People’s magazine thing which should be released Oce 10).ÊÊ The reason I’m

telling you all of this is the fact about the boys signing thier rights

away.Ê I told that in my statement and also about when Rick and Reggie the

deputy sheriff who is also a friend of Rick, took the boys to the police

station, they both knew what they were doing to the boys, not to have a

family member present and especially legal council.Ê I only live 4 blocks

from the Sheriff’s Dept.Ê And Rick know where I live.Ê My son Greg called

down there, he heard it from a policeman who works as a security guard at my

sons work.Ê He was told that if they needed him they would call.Ê He left

work right then and went down there but no one would let him in,Ê altho the

banged on the door for a long time and stood outside even longer.Ê And that

was before the boys statements were even started.Ê How could the legal

document hold when one is so young.Ê That’s the big question.Ê I’m asking

every one that I e-mail about the boys if they know of a good attorney or

private invertigator who wants to take a very complicated.case pro bona,

please tell him to contact me.Ê This is national so he can live anywhere and

be of service.Ê Any takers?

Sentencing delayed for King brothers(PENSACOLA,

Sentencing delayed for King brothers

(PENSACOLA, Fla.) September 18 – A judge is considering granting a new trial for Alex and Derek King, the two young brothers convicted of killing their father.

The judge delayed sentencing Wednesday to consider the defense request and to give doctors more time to examine the boys.

Prosecutors say 13-year-old Alex and 14-year-old Derek smashed their dad’s head with a baseball bat as he slept in a recliner and then set the house on fire.

The brothers were charged with first-degree murder. A jury convicted them of second-degree without a weapon and of arson.

Jurors said later that they thought a family friend and convicted child molester, Ricky Chavis, committed the crime.

Chavis was acquitted of first-degree murder before the boys’ trial, but the jurors did not know the verdict until they convicted the boys.

The jurors say they were shocked to find that Chavis was found innocent.

I see that PHP Nuke

I see that PHP Nuke 6.0 has been released, but only to club members. The general public won’t be able to get it until Monday. Unfortunately I’ll be too busy to do anything with it next week, since the other programmer I work with is visiting & we’re going to be doing some pretty intense work to finish the project.

Like I’ve done for all new releases, I’ll install it first on my G3 which I use as a test server, update my themes, add back my modifications, and test it for a few days before I go live with it on MacMegasite & WorldBeatPlanet. I plan to do some new themes for WorldBeatPlanet, since I really hate the theme it uses now (which is one of the standard Nuke themes).
